Throughout the years, Prof. Huger from the University of Limoges (France) showed interest in the impulse excitation technique for continuous material characterization during temperature cycles.
After a successfull tendering procedure, IMCE was granted to deliver the RFDA HTVP1600 measurement system. This system was proposed because of the vacuum tight furnace chamber allowing to create an inert atmosphere, drastically reducing oxidation at high temperatures. The research of Prof. Huger even stretched the limits of the standard HTVP measurement system and challenged the engineering team from IMCE to come up with some innovative solutions.
Trough an excellent collaboration IMCE has enhanced the RFDA HTVP1600 by integrating the cutting-edge QTec Laser vibrometer from Polytec.
An improved excitation system enables materials testing with minimal impulse power, allowing researchers to measure the material properties right at the origin of the stress-strain curve.
A programmable measurement cycle enabled the users to pro-actively change measurement settings during crucial temperature ranges.
For example, automatic changes can be made to measurement settings such as: Interval and interval type, impulse power, filters, measurement time and many more.
We’re looking forward to a continuous collaboration in the next years and will share many interesting papers on the way.
“A real great thanks to IMCE company for this extremely valuable collaboration during the past 2 years and for this great achievement which largely boost the quality of measurements at high temperature on refractory materials.”
