Damping values represents the internal friction or energy dissipation during vibration or impact of the specimen. An indispensable property providing important additional information on material performance, especially in damage-related processes where defects such as cracks may lead to unusually high damping factors.

RFDA instruments are even suitable to measure porous abrasive products where only very small strains are involved.
